Overnight Street Parking Permitted Through November

Now that April has arrived, overnight parking on public streets—unless otherwise prohibited by village signage—is again allowed until Nov. 1, 2024. During winter months, parking in these places overnight is banned to enhance traffic safety and allow the public works department to adequately perform street cleaning and emergency snow and ice removal operations. Visit our parking resources webpage to learn more about parking options in the Village, including our garages and various open lots.

Eclipse

Solar Eclipse Overhead Monday Afternoon, April 8

The historic solar eclipse is expected to be visible from Scarsdale around 2:10 p.m. on Monday, April 8, and last until about 4:39 p.m. Community members are encouraged to be safe if they are outdoors or choose to view the eclipse. Some safety tips include:

  • Do not look directly at the sun without proper eye protection.
  • Regular sunglasses do not provide protection. Only ISO 12312-2 rated eye protection should be utilized.
  • Dress appropriately for the weather.
  • Use caution when driving due to possible reduced visibility associated with less lighting.
  • Expect possible cellular communication systems interruptions due to the possibility of elevated network volume during the time of the eclipse.

The next solar eclipse isn’t expected to happen again until 2079. Learn more about eclipse safety from NASA.

Just a reminder that gas-powered leaf blowers are not permitted in Scarsdale for spring cleanup. They are, however, allowed during the fall. Please be aware of this rule, and remind any of your contractors about this important local law.
