Village Requests State's Help to Offer Tax Penalty Refunds

Following an investigation that determined the United States Postal Service did not deliver certain 2023-24 real property tax bills to Scarsdale certain residents, leading to late penalties for some, the Village has filed a Home Rule Request with both the New York State Assembly and Senate. If granted, this will allow the Village to waive/refund the penalties for certain affected individuals, as the local government does not have the power to enact such legislation by local law. The Village will continue to update residents on this important matter

Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Destination Scarsdale on May 12

The community is invited to the Destination Scarsdale ribbon-cutting ceremony with Westchester County Executive George Latimer on Sunday, May 12, at 9:30 a.m. The Scarsdale Business Alliance, in partnership with the Village of Scarsdale, is thrilled to celebrate this collaborative initiative, endorsed by Westchester County, and celebrating the 50th anniversary of Bicycle Sundays. Destination Scarsdale is meant to showcase Scarsdale’s diverse amenities, increase foot traffic in the Village center, drive economic activity and promote community engagement. Key components include:

  • An enhanced Farmers’ Market (see below for more info) every Sunday from May 12 through November 24.
  • Bicycle Sundays on the Bronx River Parkway. Westchester County will recognize Scarsdale as an official rest stop for participants.
  • Live performances, family fun activities and SBA community tables.

Downtown Scarsdale Like You’ve Never Seen It Before

Second graders at Fox Meadow Elementary School took their project on Downtown Scarsdale to new heights. After researching local businesses, the students used TinkerCad to create 3-D models of their assigned establishments and then collectively built a representation of the Village of Scarsdale complete with signs and a functioning rail line. The Village congratulates the students on such an enterprising and informative project highlighting a vital community resource.

Annual Comprehensive Financial Report Earns High Praise

The Government Finance Officers Association has awarded the Village of Scarsdale a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year ended on May 31, 2023. The Village takes great pride in the various ways vital information is shared with the community and appreciates the prestigious recognition.

Pool Party Registration Open for June 1 to August 17

Scarsdale Municipal Pool members can start booking pool parties from June 1 through August 17. Party times on weekdays are 4-5:30 p.m. and weekends are 10-11:30 a.m. or 12:30-2 p.m. Each group will have a Party Coordinator and a special area for a 90-minute party. Pizza, chips and one beverage per guest will be provided by O’Neill’s Concession Stand. Party guests may stay post-party for the remainder of the day to enjoy the pool facility. All reservations must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. A nonrefundable administrative fee of $25 will be charged for each party reservation change. Click here to reserve a pool party.
