Memorial Day Parade On Monday, May 27, the Village of Scarsdale will host the annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony in the Village Center. The ceremony will commence at 10 a.m. in Chase Park with speeches from our local elected officials, followed by the parade, scheduled to begin at about 10:30 a.m. The parade route will proceed up Popham Road, turn onto Church Lane, and then return to Chase Park via Crane Road. Please join us for this important occasion, as we recognize the heroic sacrifices made by more than one million people who died serving our country.

Public Hearing on Draft of Proposed Local Land Use Laws: Tuesday, May 28 A public hearing on proposed changes to the local land use code will be held on Tuesday, May 28, during the Village Board’s 8 p.m. business meeting to be held in person at Village Hall and via Zoom. Public feedback will be taken into consideration in order to strengthen the draft proposal created by BFJ Planning consultants; a link to the May 14 presentation and discussion is here.

Tax Assessment Grievance Day: Tuesday, June 18 The Board of Assessment Review will convene on Tuesday, June 18, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 6 p.m.-8 p.m., by appointment only, in Rutherford Hall at Scarsdale Village Hall, to hear and examine all grievances in relation to tax assessments. Scarsdale Pool Opens this Weekend! Warm weather has arrived, and the Scarsdale Municipal Pool is set for opening day on Saturday, May 25, at 9 a.m. The Department of Parks, Recreation, and Conservation offers a variety of programs and activities such as private swim lessons, After Camp at the pool, Fireworks Spectacular & 4th of July Carnival Day, pool parties and so much more throughout the season. You can also come to the Rec office at 244 Heathcote Road (Supply Field) to get pictures taken for membership cards Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. It’s important that all pool members, adults and children, bring their membership cards each time they want to enter the pool complex. Without your membership card, you will not be allowed entry. If lost, replacement cards will cost $10 each.

Procedure Committee Seeking New Members The Procedure Committee (PC) of the Citizens Nominating Committee (CNC) is seeking new members. The CNC is a non-partisan, elected group of Scarsdale residents who nominate a slate of candidates for the offices of mayor, trustee and village justice. The PC is responsible for administering the procedures governing Scarsdale’s non-partisan election system, including publicizing and recruiting candidates for the CNC, providing election information and administering elections, and recommending any changes to the guidelines of the CNC. Fourth Annual Scarsdale Music Festival Returns June 1 Tickets are on sale for the Scarsdale Business Alliance’s fourth annual Scarsdale Music Festival (SMF), a family friendly community event on Saturday, June 1, rain or shine, in the Village Center from noon to 6 p.m. The festive day, full of live music, food, drinks and fun activities for people of all ages will benefit Daniel’s Music Foundation. The SBA is also delighted about its continued partnership with the Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) to make SMF a zero-waste event. Bring on Summer! Weinberg Nature Center June Offerings On Saturday, June 8, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., the Bring on Summer! event will take place at the Nature Center with live animals and songs, animal yoga and dancing, animal sounds and animal stories for families ($50) and individuals ($20). The event begins with engaging animal stories and animal sounds, carrying over to animal yoga and dancing, followed by a fun interactive portion where participants greet Weinberg resident animals and enjoy music by Annie and the Natural Wonder Band. There will be a Community Gathering with fire-making, roasting vegetables/marshmallows, story-telling, a mini-hike, and more on Saturday, June 22, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. for ages 4 and up ($15 individual, $40 family). Come roast marshmallows and corn while engaging with traditional tool use and an oral history from a variety of cultures shared by Weinberg’s Naturalists.
