Volunteers Needed: Vine Cutting Will Continue Sunday, December 15 With a good outlook for the weather, the next session of Friends of the Scarsdale Parks vine cutting will take place Sunday, December 15, from 1-3 p.m. at the Weinberg Nature Center at 455 Mamaroneck Road in Scarsdale. The cutting of destructive, invasive vines that can smother trees to death by blocking the sun and girdling tree trunks is vital to the community. Attendees will be taught about identification and safe removal of vines and should wear gloves, long sleeves, safe footwear and eye protection, and bring loppers or pruning shears if you have them. If you plan to attend, email Elaine Weir at elaine.weir.sherman@gmail.com. Village Naturalist and Educator Sam Weinstock will also join the group.
