Trustees to Review Recreation Capital Projects on February 24, Village Budget on February 25
The Village Board of Trustees will hold a work session on recreation capital projects on Monday, February 24, at 6 p.m. This session will focus on planned improvements and investments in the Village's recreational facilities and programs. The following evening, on Tuesday, February 25, at 6 p.m., the Board will convene for a budget study work session to review the third pass of the Village budget. This session marks a critical stage in the budget development process as trustees discuss and refine key financial allocations for the upcoming fiscal year . Volunteers Needed: Invasive Vine Removal at George Field Park
Join volunteers this Sunday, February 23, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at George Field Park (1218 Post Road - please park on Greendale Road and take the path to the foot bridge) to help remove invasive vines that threaten local trees. Attendees will learn how to identify and safely remove these destructive plants before the growing season begins. Please wear gloves, long sleeves, and sturdy closed-toe footwear, and bring eye protection and loppers or pruning shears if you have them. Tools and gloves will be available to borrow if needed. Day Camp Parents’ Information Night February 27
The Recreation Department will host the 2025 Camp Programs Parents’ Information Night on Thursday, February 27, at 7 p.m. in Village Hall, 1001 Post Road. Parents are invited to learn about the upcoming camp season, ask questions, and meet the Day Camp Executive Director and Camp Directors. Camps include: - Camp Sagamore: Incoming kindergarteners
- Camp Lenape: Incoming 1st-graders
- Camp Wapetuck: Incoming 2nd-graders
- Camp Patthunke: Incoming 3rd- to 8th-graders
- Teen Travel Camp: Incoming 6th- to 8th-graders
- Sports & Soccer Camps

Weinberg Nature Center Seeks Volunteers, Supply Donations
The staff at the Weinberg Nature Center at 455 Mamaroneck Road are seeking volunteers to help with animal care, greenhouse maintenance, early spring tree planting, grounds cleanup, educational trail signs, cleaning out the shed and organizing program supplies. Volunteers can work independently and in small groups and should be age 15 or older. PPE gear is provided and training will be required. The Nature Center is also seeking support from individuals to receive and manage donations of materials which include hand towels; water- and chew-resistant animal blankets; timothy hay/straw; unopened guinea pig, rabbit and chinchilla food; habitat supplies for snakes and other reptiles; native flower, lettuce and veggie seeds; and starter pots. Spring Garden Workshop at Weinberg Nature Center
The Spring Garden Workshop at Weinberg Nature Center’s Greenhouse provides adults and seniors with an opportunity to learn about various gardening techniques. Sessions will take place on Saturday mornings from 10 to 11 a.m. on March 22 and 29, April 12 and 26, and May 3, 16, and 31, with rain dates on June 7 and 14. Topics include garden planning, seed preparation, pH balance, vermicomposting, pollinator attraction, tree pruning, native planting, and non-pesticide gardening. Participants will engage in hands-on activities and have the chance to bring home plants. The cost is $245 for residents, $282 for Mamaroneck Strip residents, and $294 for non-residents, with space limited to 14 participants. Spring Flag Football Program Registration Now Open
Scarsdale Youth Football’s popular Spring Flag Football Program returns this year, welcoming boys and girls in grades K-8 of all skill levels. Led by Coach Rippy Philipps, along with coaches and players from Scarsdale High School’s tackle and flag football programs, the program focuses on fundamentals and fun. Sessions will be held at Butler Field (SHS turf) on Saturdays: April 26, May 10, 17, and 31, with a rain date of June 7. K-2 sessions will run from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by grades 3-8 from 6 to 7 p.m. An optional tackle football session will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. The registration fee is $140. Annual Village Election Scheduled for March 18
The annual local Village of Scarsdale Election for Mayor and three members of the Board of Trustees, each to a two-year term, will be held Tuesday, March 18, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Scott Room of the Scarsdale Public Library. Friday March 7 is the last day to register to vote with the Westchester County Board of Elections.
