Annual Village Election to be Held on March 18The annual local Village of Scarsdale Election for Mayor and three members of the Board of Trustees, each to a two-year term, will be held Tuesday, March 18, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Scott Room of the Scarsdale Public Library. Friday March 7 is the last day to register to vote with the Westchester County Board of Elections. All information and links can be found on the Village’s Local Election page, including absentee and early mail ballots. Spring/Summer Recreation Program Registration Opens TodayThe Village of Scarsdale Parks, Recreation, and Conservation Department’s Spring/Summer program registration opens Today, March 7, at 9:30 a.m. Residents can sign up online at this link. A variety of programs are available, including adult and youth athletics, aquatic programs, summer camps, racquet sports, senior activities, and events at the Weinberg Nature Center. The annual road races are also open for registration. Non-resident pool membership registration begins Friday, March 21, at 9:30 a.m. Information on Scarsdale Summer Camps is available here. Girl Scouts Learn Safety SkillsThe Scarsdale Edgemont Girl Scouts hosted a self-defense workshop on Sunday, March 2, at the Betty Taubert Girl Scout House, bringing together 30 Girl Scouts in grades six through twelve. Led by Kat Colucci, owner of On Guard Academy, the three-hour session focused on situational awareness, self-defense techniques, and social media safety. Participants learned how to recognize and avoid dangerous situations, as well as how to protect themselves if necessary. Deputy Mayor Dara Gruenberg was honored to attend the event, which provided invaluable life skills for the girls.

Volunteers Needed: Invasive Vine Removal at Aspen ParkJoin volunteers this Sunday, March 9, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Aspen Park (7 Aspen Road) to help remove invasive vines that threaten local trees. Attendees will learn how to identify and safely remove these destructive plants before the growing season begins. Please wear gloves, long sleeves, and sturdy closed-toe footwear, and bring eye protection and loppers or pruning shears if you have them. Tools and gloves will be available to borrow if needed. Whiskers and Tails at Weinberg Nature CenterThe Weinberg Nature Center’s Whiskers and Tails event on Saturday, April 5, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the open amphitheater will feature a native wildlife presentation and interactive discussion. Wildlife rehabilitators from the center and Pennsylvania will introduce participants to rabbits, flying squirrels, groundhogs, and more, exploring their role in the ecosystem and what to do if an injured animal is found. Best suited for ages 4 and up, the event costs $15 per individual and $40 per family for residents, $17 per individual and $46 per family for those in the Mamaroneck Strip, and $18 per individual and $48 per family for non-residents.
