Water Main Flushing ContinuesThe Water Department is continuing its water main flushing throughout the month. Water main flushing prevents discoloration of water during the heavy demand periods of the summer months. Slight discoloration may occur during the flushing period, but will settle out in a short time. Though the water is safe for consumption, it may stain clothes. Residents should anticipate discolored water during the day and early evening. Surrounding areas may also experience some discoloration. View the flushing schedule here.

May 11-17 is Food Allergy Awareness Week in ScarsdaleEvery 10 seconds, a food allergy sends a patient to the emergency room. Mayor Justin Arest and the Village Board of Trustees have declared May 11-17 to be Food Allergy Awareness Week to encourage residents to increase their understanding and awareness of food allergies and anaphylaxis, which most commonly stem from shellfish, fish, milk, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, soy, wheat and sesame. Scarsdale resident Peter Lin brought this initiative to the village’s attention after his own personal, nearly life-threatening experience with allergies. Food allergies are a life-changing, serious, and increasingly prevalent disease that affect more than 33 million Americans, including nearly 6 million children under the age of 18.
