2025 Water Main Flushing Begins Monday, May 5Beginning Monday, May 5, the Scarsdale Water Department will conduct its annual water main flushing program. This routine maintenance helps prevent discoloration during periods of high demand in the summer. During this time, residents may experience discolored water, which should clear within a short period. While the water remains safe to drink, it may stain laundry. For guidance on what to do if your water appears discolored, please visit scarsdale.gov/flushing. Flushing will be conducted by neighborhood—to view the full schedule and learn more, click here.

Lost Dog in Scarsdale? Here’s What to DoLosing a pet can be a stressful experience, but the Scarsdale Police Department has shared helpful tips and key information to guide residents through what to do if their dog goes missing—or if they come across a loose dog in the community. If you didn’t see your dog get out, it may still be somewhere inside. Try shaking a food bowl, treat jar, or favorite toy to draw them out of hiding. Once you’re confident your pet is no longer in the house, take a slow walk around the neighborhood while calling their name, and share a clear photo and description on local social media groups, such as neighborhood Facebook pages, to alert nearby residents and increase the chances of a quick reunion. After taking those initial steps, call the Scarsdale Police Department’s non-emergency line at 914-722-1200, and contact local shelters or humane societies to report your missing pet and check whether it has been found. If you come across a loose dog, avoid handling it directly and instead contact SPD. An officer or animal control officer will respond and attempt to identify the owner, including checking the Village’s Dog License List—just one of many reasons why dog licensing is not only required, but also helpful. You can also post the found dog’s photo and location on local social media to help locate the owner, but always wait for trained personnel to manage direct contact with the animal. If the owner cannot be located right away, the dog will be safely housed at the SPCA of Westchester in Briarcliff Manor until it can be reclaimed. Please note: in accordance with Village Code, all impounded dogs are subject to a summons and an associated impoundment fee. This fee must be paid at the Village Clerk’s Office before the dog can be released or the summons resolved in court.
