Board Meeting recap September 30, 2025 Board MeetingThe Mayor opened the September 30 Board Meeting with updates on recent and upcoming community events, including Rock the ’Dale, the Bronx River Parkway centennial, the Scarsdale Concours d’Elegance, and Paint the ’Dale. The Village Manager reminded residents that the Farmers Market will be canceled on October 5 due to the Concours, resuming October 12. The Mayor also wished those observing Yom Kippur an easy and meaningful fast. Two public hearings were held—one on proposed amendments to Chapter 281 regarding commercial tree license requirements and another on metered parking regulations. The Board will consider and take action on these items at a future meeting. Resolutions related to facility improvements, awarding contracts, taxicab licensing, and advisory appointments were passed. village spotlight Bronx River Parkway Reservation Marks 100 YearsOn September 21, Mayor Justin Arest joined county officials and community members to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Bronx River Parkway Reservation, portions of which run through Scarsdale. As Westchester’s oldest park and one of the nation’s first linear parks, the 807-acre reservation remains a vital green space connecting communities. To mark the occasion, historic photos of Scarsdale’s section of the parkway (1912–1922), recently rediscovered in Village Hall and curated with help from the Scarsdale Historical Society, are now on display at the Scarsdale Public Library’s Local History Center. The images, from the Westchester County Archives, capture the river’s transformation from polluted banks to restored parkland and feature early landmarks such as Scarsdale Falls and the Greenacres Tea House.
