August 12: Update

Scarsdale Central Taxi reports that at this time there is no need to call individual drivers, as the main phone number 914-723-0016 remains operational. 

August 8: Important Update regarding Taxi Service in the Community

As many in our community know, the Village has been working closely with Scarsdale Central Taxi over the past year and a half to help sustain this important transportation service for the many residents who rely on it. Today, we were informed by Scarsdale Central Taxi Manager Peter Blier that Scarsdale Central Taxi will be cutting back service immediately as they look to transition to a new operator.

While the company is in a period of transition, several independent drivers formerly affiliated with Scarsdale Central Taxi and licensed by the Village will continue to serve the community as Mr. Blier has identified in his letter below. Others are in the process of securing their independent owner/operator licenses, and the Village will provide an updated list as additional drivers receive their documentation from the DMV.

To further ensure transportation access, the Village has also reached out to outside taxi companies to explore temporary service arrangements. Any updates to drivers and service information will be posted to scarsdale.gov/taxi. Please see the below message from Scarsdale Central Taxi:

“Dear Alexandra and the Scarsdale Community,

For well over 100 years, Central Taxi Of Scarsdale has served the transportation needs of the village and surrounding communities. We have taken very seriously our central role in the area, and have valued the community’s reliance and support.

For over a year now, we have been doing everything we can to find a new operator to take over our location in the village. Unfortunately to date we have not been able to establish a successor. But there is hope today, we believe that a new operator will take over shortly. The next month will be a period of disruption and change. We will only have a handful of cabs operating for the next few weeks. Any updates will be available on the voicemail of our main phone number 914-723-0016. We have three long time drivers who have bought their own cars and are licensed to drive you.
