Swearing-In Ceremony Welcomes New and Returning Officials

On Monday, April 7, newly elected Village Trustees David Goldschmidt and Jason Kofman were officially sworn in to begin their first terms on the Village Board. Mayor Justin Arest and Deputy Mayor Dara Gruenberg were also sworn in, each beginning their second term of service. Trustees Goldschmidt and Kofman participated in their first Board meeting the following evening.

Free Compost!

Free Compost Giveaway April 26

In honor of Earth Week, Scarsdale is giving away FREE high-quality compost to residents on Saturday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Recycling Center (110 Secor Road). The compost is made from food scraps collected through the Village’s Food Scrap Recycling Program, which has diverted over 3.5 million pounds of waste since 2017. Bring your own container—first come, first served! Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and help new participants get started. Starter kits and compostable bags will be available for purchase. Great for gardens, flower beds, and lawns! Learn more at scarsdale.gov/foodscrap or email composting@scarsdale.gov.

Summer Camp

Early Bird Camp Registration Ends April 15

The Scarsdale Recreation Department is excited to kick off this summer’s day camp season, running from Monday, July 7 through Friday, August 8. With nearly 900 campers expected, the program is designed to provide a safe, fun, and enriching experience for every child. Camps are offered by grade level, with locations at Heathcote, Fox Meadow, Quaker Ridge, and Scarsdale Middle School. Campers in grades 3–8 attending Camp Patthunke can also register for morning Soccer or Sports Camp and will be transported to camp afterward. Registration is available by the week or for the full season at scarsdale.gov/recreation.

Drive-Thru Prescription Drug Disposal Day April 26

Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service’s Scarsdale Action for Youth (SAY) and the Scarsdale Police Department are partnering to host a Drive-Thru Prescription Drug Disposal Day on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Scarsdale Public Safety Building (enter via Post Road). Residents are encouraged to safely dispose of unwanted or expired medications—no need to leave your vehicle. Accepted items include: Prescription medications, prescription patches, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, samples, and pet medications. Items not accepted: Needles, inhalers, lotions, liquids, ointments, hydrogen peroxide, aerosol cans, and thermometers. For more information, visit www.SAYscarsdale.org.

Register to March in the Memorial Day Parade

The Village of Scarsdale invites local organizations to participate in this year’s Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26, 2025.  The event will begin with a ceremony at 10:00 a.m. at Chase Park, with participant assembly starting at 9:00 a.m. The parade will follow a one-mile route through the Village, concluding back at Chase Park around 11:30 a.m. Organizations interested in marching must register online by Monday, May 12, 2025, at scarsdale.gov/memorialday. A Winning Night with JLCW

On April 4, the Junior League of Central Westchester (JLCW) hosted its Big Night Out: Casino Royale fundraiser at the Mansion on Broadway in White Plains. The event raised funds and awareness for the League’s many community initiatives, with a special focus on celebrating the 10-year anniversary of JLCW’s Westchester County Diaper Bank, which has distributed over 2 million diapers to families in need and contributed more than 8,000 hours of volunteer service from its members. Scarsdale Mayor Justin Arest, Deputy Mayor Dara Gruenberg, and Assemblymember Amy Paulin were honored guests at the event.

Volunteers Needed: Invasive Vine Removal at Scarsdale Women's Club

Join volunteers this Sunday, April 1, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Scarsdale Women's Club (37 Drake Road) to help remove invasive vines that threaten local trees. Attendees will learn how to identify and safely remove these destructive plants before the growing season begins. Please wear gloves, long sleeves, and sturdy closed-toe footwear, and bring eye protection and loppers or pruning shears if you have them. Tools and gloves will be available to borrow if needed. Please RSVP to Cynthia Roberts at cynthiavroberts@gmail.com. The event will be canceled in case of rain or snow.

The Scarsdale Public Library is offering a diverse lineup of programs this April:

Chinese Movie Matinee: American Dreams in China – Saturday, April 12 at 2 p.m. (Scott Room)
Enjoy this family-friendly Chinese-language comedy/drama based on the true story of three young men who launch a successful English teaching school. The film will be screened in Mandarin or Cantonese with English subtitles. Free admission and refreshments. Co-sponsored by OCA-WHV. Register here.
